Winter Has Arrived!

December 2019
Thanksgiving Day and the weekend were great!  We all knew that snow was in the weather forecast later in the weekend, so refrigerators were stocked with milk and for us, orange juice.  An extra loaf of bread was purchased, too.  The snowflakes did begin to fall.  The holiday vacation from schools was extended to Monday with a Snow Day.  Today is Tuesday and it's another Snow Day!  Winter has arrived!

About 17" of snow was the result of the long lasting snowstorm.  Snowblowers have been working in our neighborhood and the streets are plowed.  This afternoon it does look like suddenly the season changed.

It is New England and the seasons can change quickly!

Autumn Memories!

In the past 2 weeks the leaves on our trees and bushes suddenly erupted into beautiful shades of copper, red, orange and yellow!

It has been a gorgeous view wherever we walked or drove in our area.

Looking down one street an arc of color greeted us.

Now, we hear the hum of leaf blowers.  We also see and are homeowners raking up the dried brown leaves that have fallen from the trees.  Two nights ago the strong winds and rain changed our scenery.  The above photos are beautiful memories of the Autumn of 2019!

Now, it's time to get to work collecting the leaves.
We did Enjoy!

An October View

A quick glance!
Every year this is the scene in October whenever we take a quick glance out of our kitchen window!  The golden yellows, the rusty browns and bright red leaves against the backdrop of green pine needles and other leaves.  Even on an overcast day the colors are beautiful.  This is one of the views of New England that is always a keeper!

Enjoy!

Summer Dinner Salad!

Summer Dinner Salad!
A colorful nutritious dinner in the summer does not get much easier to prepare- when you've enjoyed Grilled Chicken the day before!  The local fresh tomatoes and cucumbers are readily available to use.  Add them to a bed of greens of choice along with a few small chunks of cheese and craisins.  The salad dressing is your fave and dinner is oh, so good!

A slice of Basil Parmesan Toast is a great addition.  It is one of my fave ways to serve bread.

Summer is a great time to enjoy the seasonal views that come only once a year!  This past week a Monarch butterfly stopped in for a visit to our colorful Zinnias!  The plants we grew from saved seeds.  That was a great surprise!

Enjoy the Summer!

Yikes!!

2019

A big contrast from this winter!  It's a hot day today!  The New Guinea Impatiens are hinting and we did quench their thirst.  They are now in the shade and we are indoors!  Phew!!

Stay cool my friends!!

June Flowers!

It's the last day of June and there is so much color in our yard!  Yellow Stella de Oro Daylilies, red Roses, purple Petunias and light pink Citronella (Mosquito Plant) flowers.  Yes, even the Citronella (lower right corner) is blossoming!  We have 3 plants on our deck.  They sure do help keeping the mosquitoes from visiting us when we are sitting on our deck.   Every year we have 3 pots of these Mosquito Plants on our deck.

We are enjoying this last day of June!

Color-

Bright Yellow Daffodils!!
(Photo taken yesterday)
The sky is overcast and the raindrops have started to come down.  But, a quick look outdoors is proof that Spring is here.  The color of the day is YELLOW!!

Delicate Yellow Forsythia Blossoms!!

It's a great sight to view the Forsythia bushes this year.  Last year the long branches only had green leaves.  This year we can see the flowers, first.

Enjoy!
Happy Gardening!

Welcome Spring!!

Our perennial gardens are beginning to come alive!  The Rose Bushes survived the cold winter and the Salmon Daylilies are beginning to sprout.  Forsythia Bushes have small buds and the Hydrangea looks like new shoots are coming out.

It's interesting to watch the flowers as they begin to grow and then blossom.

Hyacinths

These dainty Vinca flowers are much smaller than the dried Oak leaves.

A great surprise has been the clump of Daffodils!  Last year they did not make an appearance.  Wondering what color they will be!

Spring is definitely here!!!

Magical Views

Jan. 30, 2019
This morning we woke up to view the magic of winter surrounding our home.  It was (is) a beautiful sight!  For me our treadmill will come in handy for the daily exercise.  It will also be the ideal time to bake a dessert to enjoy after dinner.

Another view of winter!
It will be brisk in the next few days.

Stay warm!
