~Frost in the Air!~

Thump, pop, boing!  That's the sound of the acorns falling off of the Oak tree branches when the wind is blowing & they hit our roof.  If the acorns hit our gutters, there's a boing before bouncing on the ground.  Sometimes a double bounce.  They do have a kick to their step!  With the large quantity of acorns on the ground it's a sign that winter is not far away.  Well, they all need to be raked along with the leaves that will be falling before we start thinking about that word snow.
Acorns with & without their caps.
Our weathermen have been warning us that a frost is in our forecast tonight & again tomorrow night.    Woah!  Today was probably the last day to enjoy my New Guinea Impatiens that have added so much color on our deck.  Yes, those are 2 deer antlers attached to the shutters of our shed.  They were found in the grass over the years.

2 Deer antlers on our shed.
This Fall we've been enjoying the Asters that continue to pop up every year.  Soon the stalks will be cut back & mulched.  In the Spring the new green shoots will sprout & we'll have another large crop next Fall.

Colorful Asters
The Marigold & the Zinnia seeds have been collected/ dried & stored.  This week the leaves on our trees will change even more to beautiful shades of golds, oranges, reds & maroons.  We do enjoy the 4 seasons of New England.  Tonight it will be a little more chilly.
Brrrr!!!

A Fave Fall Foliage View

Puffy white clouds floated in the blue sky last Wednesday!  We were driving north on Rt. 116 toward the center of Amherst, MA.  My passenger side window was unrolled & I was waiting- ready.  Ready to see one of my fave Fall foliage views.  Suddenly there it was, so I snapped a photo!  Oranges, maroons, reds & yellows along with shades of green.  My childhood memory revisited!  Every autumn this is a spectacular sight!

Enjoy!

Free Fun Fridays- 2015

It's in my state of Massachusetts! It's totally fun!  It's FREE!  It's from June 26th - August 28th!  It's for everyone- children & adults!  FREE FUN FRIDAYS!!!

Every Friday during that time period, there are 7 museums/ cultural venues with no admission fee!  It is a program sponsored by the Highland Street Foundation. (Click on their name for their info.)  This program is for residents of Massachusetts, tourists vacationing here & also visitors driving through my scenic state.  It's a great opportunity to spend a day at one of 70 interesting places with no general admission cost.

Every Friday during the summer months starting on June 26, from the Berkshires, throughout the Pioneer Valley, to the Boston area and the Cape (Cape Cod) there is no general admission charge at some great places to visit on specific Fridays!  This program ends on August 28.

With all of our snowstorms in MA this winter there have been so many "snow days" added onto the current school calendars of towns & cities.  During summer vacation continue the learning process by learning while having FuN!

These are some of my faves:

Old Sturbridge Village

Springfield Museums

Norman Rockwell Museum

Heritage Museums & Gardens

The Franklin Park Zoo is a fave of my grandsons!  The Eric Carle Museum will be on their list!  So many great places to visit!

Click on the link here to view & print your copy of FREE FUN FRIDAYS!  Thank you Highland Street Foundation!

Where will you spend a Friday this summer??

Enjoy!

~Happy Easter!~

A small amount of snow is still here.
A sight I've been patiently waiting for!  There's a path to our outdoor grill!  With the warmer temps &  sunshine these past couple of weeks and then a bit of rain, the snow in our yard has been disappearing.  Almost like magic!  However, our outdoor grill & deck were still surrounded by the white stuff!  Earlier this week Jim cleared a path to our grill.  The path got much larger.  Grilling on Easter Sunday sounded so good!  It's happening!  Woohoo!

Happy Easter!!!

Enjoy!

~A Sunny Day~

It's great to see the sun shining today!  It feels so good to sit & enjoy the view from our front window.  Looking upward there is some dripping action going on.  Another scene from our snowy frigid winter!

Could this be a view from your home, too?

Winter in New England

Walking past any window in our home brings a beautiful view today!  We were very lucky that we did not get the total snowfall that was predicted nor the snowfall that central & eastern MA got.  There will be snow flurries adding to the 6.5" that was measured in our driveway from this storm.

The welcoming sound of snow blowers can be heard.  My DH & our neighbors are all outside working.  Driveways, sidewalks & paths to our storage sheds will be cleared & we will be ready for the next snowfall.
In a few months our outdoor grill will be used, again.  It's covered & hidden in the above photo!  It is winter in New England!
