The weekend has arrived! It is time to pause for a bit and enjoy the colors of lavender, purple and pink that this season of Spring brings!

Spring has arrived! It is wonderful to see the perennials popping up!

On all sides of our yard there is color!  Lavendars, greens, pinks and yellows! Welcome Spring!  It's good to have you back.

Early April

We are enjoying many colors in our yard.  What a great distraction from this current pandemic.  COVID-19 is always in our thoughts, but during the day it's good to take time to relax.  Enjoy the colors outdoors!  We don't have any roses blooming to enjoy their aroma, just yet.  However, there is new growth on our rose bushes.

I was waiting p-a-t-i-e-n-t-l-y for the Daffodil buds to open.  So many bulbs were planted many years ago.  Now, these are the only Daffodils in our yard.    

The Perennial Vinca spreads across a large area of one garden.  In early Spring these dainty flowers appear!

Hyacinths are just bursting open along with the bright yellow Forsythia!  Every day more bright yellow Forsythia buds open.  

 

The White Bleeding Hearts have sprouted up from the soil, too!  Before we know it the flowers will be visible.

Another favorite is our Rhododendron that always "does its thing"!  Half the bush has buds that open in the Spring.  Then, in Autumn the other half open.

It's good to stop and enjoy the beautiful colors!  Take some time each day to r-e-l-a-x!!

August Flowers

Salmon Daylily

Our gardens have been bursting with so many different colors this summer.  Different perennials blossom at different times.  That was the plan!  We wanted to have rotations of flowers and colors.  The annuals add in color where needed and the plan worked!

Our Salmon Daylilies blossomed for 1 month!  Each blossom lasted for 1 day.  There was always another to pop open on the long stem.  This past Saturday the last flower opened!  It's amazing to view and appreciate a close up of the blossom!

It has been a tradition with me from my childhood to save the Zinnia seeds from the current season's gorgeous flowers.  They are dried and then stored to plant the next spring!  Now, the flowers continue to surprise us each day with new buds opening.  There is a great sense of accomplishment when one views the colorful flowers that were grown from saved seeds!

Purple Phlox

 

 

 

This is another beautiful view- out of our kitchen window.  The small purple flowers form pretty clusters of blossoms on the stems.  More of the Phlox is opening!  It's great to view this perennial every year!

So, while I am preparing Freezer Jams and freezing fresh summer fruit, our gardens are adding beautiful colors to our yard!  Summer in New England is beautiful. 

The 4 seasons we have each year bring different scenes of beauty.  They are all appreciated!

New Colors of Spring!

I always appreciate the beautiful colors that Spring brings to our yard.  From the early sprouting Hyacinths, the flowing yellow Forsythia bushes to the yellow Daffodils.  Outside my computer room a burst of pink blossoms have erupted.  I often view them while glancing outside the window.  Admiring them outdoors is so much better.  The tall stalks are staked up, because of the recent rain.

Vibrant purple Irises have now made their appearances.  I had been watching the large clump in our front garden.  Yesterday, a smaller group in our back perennial garden started to blossom.

 
The Variegated Iris usually has one blossom every Spring.

Today was the day it blossomed!

New England's 4 seasons bring changes to our scenery throughout the year.  Each season is enjoyed, because it will change- yet again!  The pastel and also vibrant colors of Spring are just gorgeous!!

A Little Color!

This Spring brings warm- then cold- then warmer weather!  The pink Canadian Bleeding Hearts seem to be very hardy.  They continue to blossom and add beautiful color to our perennial garden.  The white Bleeding Hearts now look very graceful.

With this change of weather- daily- the beautiful Ivy Geranium has a new home.  It stays in our garage!  Today, it was enjoying the warm afternoon- but- to play it safe it's back in the garage.

Perennials!

The pinks, the whites, the lavenders along with the greens are popping up in our back perennial garden!  What a welcome sight!  Enjoying the beautiful colors of Spring is always a treat after the snow disappears.  Our weather is a bit warmer now, so the blossoms are here.  It's so very cool that so many shades of color are now found in our yard.

Colors in July

Salmon Daylilies
with Marigolds

For the past 2+ weeks our Salmon Daylilies have blossomed!  Suddenly, each morning there were 36+ blossoms to enjoy.  Every vibrant color of summer flowers are always a welcomed sight!  Some are perennials & a few others are annuals.  The Irises already blossomed, but the graceful green foliage add another shade of green to our lawn.

Some Colors of May

Bright Pink Peonies!

Here are some of the beautiful colors of May!  We have been enjoying our flowering bushes this spring.  Now, the perennials are also bursting into color.

Lavender Chives!

These Chives always add a beautiful shade of lavender to our garden.

Bleeding Hearts

Years ago 4 small Bleeding Hearts were planted in our back garden.  Now, they've multiplied & found their spot around a large boulder.

Champagne Rhododendron

The white blossoms on the Champagne Rhododendron are dainty.

~Color Update~

Bright Yellow Forsythia Blossoms

What a beautiful time of year!  Whenever I glance out our kitchen window the bright yellow Forsythia blossoms get my attention!  Three bushes are in our back perennial garden.  It's so easy to admire these beautiful bushes all over my neighborhood, because many of us have them in our yards.  Last year, the Forsythia did not blossom, due to our warm, then freezing temps early in the year.  They sure were missed!  However, this year they are a welcoming Spring sight!

The "AmaZing surprises" that made their appearances in March have also brought color to our emerging garden!  A bright yellow Daffodil stands tall.  :)

Pink & yellow Hyacinth flowers are opening on the stalks!  It's a ritual that I enjoy seeing every year!

~Early Spring~

The snow that fell 2 weeks ago has melted.  The rain has now stopped.  Today the sun is shining, so it was time to check out the perennial gardens.

In our front yard the lavender Crocuses in our lawn are enjoying the sunshine!

A Ritual of Spring!

A walk to our backyard brought more smiles!  The sole Daffodil in our back perennial garden already had a bud before the snowfall.  Yes, it's growing!

~Irises~

The annuals were planted last weekend.  Marigold seeds found their new homes in pots.  They have a history with me.  A beautiful potted Marigold on Mother's Day was gift from my little grandsons 2 years ago.  That sturdy plant provided seeds to save the first year.  They were planted last year & blossomed.  Seeds saved again.  It didn't take long for them & the Zinnia seeds to sprout! 

Today, just enjoying the perennial gardens while doing chores.
